How to Search the Jasper County Court Docket
Missouri Case.net is free and statewide. It serves as the entry point for an automated, nonconfidential Jasper County court docket. Jasper County's own records-search instructions point the public there. They cover docket entries, parties, judgments, and charges. There is no separate Jasper database behind it. Because the system is statewide, results can run thin for older cases, confidential matters, cases not yet entered, or records indexed a different way. A blank result does not settle whether a case exists.
Start with the case number if you have it. No number? Search by the name exactly as a ticket or court notice spells it, and narrow the query to the 29th Judicial Circuit when the form allows. The court also posts a schedule, offers clerk phone and email routes, and keeps public terminals plus targeted records requests. Use those channels when the online entry leaves the practical question open.
- Open Case.net and choose the confirmed search type: litigant name, filing date, case number, or scheduled hearings and trials.
- For a Jasper traffic or criminal matter, select the 29th Judicial Circuit, enter the name as printed on the ticket, add the filing year, and use Find.
- Open the matching case number and compare the court, division, category, and status before relying on the docket entry.
- Check the scheduled setting, then confirm an upcoming appearance with the summons, attorney, or Circuit Clerk.
- Ask the clerk for a targeted search, public-terminal access, or a certified copy when the needed record is not available remotely.
Jasper County Docket Searches
Case.net gives more than one door into a Jasper County docket. The official public guide confirms searches by name, filing date, case number, and scheduled hearing. Menu labels can change. Required fields on the live form can change too, so trust the form's current wording and the court's published local direction over any fixed walk-through.
The 29th Judicial Circuit names the same statewide system as its public record route. One login is separate. An attorney account belongs to Missouri eFiling, not ordinary docket searching. A court payment link is different too. It does not mean a case can be searched there.
| Search area | Confirmed control | Jasper use |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Litigant Name Search | Use the name shown on a ticket or notice. |
| Filing date | Filing Date Search | Use the live form’s date controls. |
| Case number | Case Number Search | Best when the clerk, notice, or ticket supplies the number. |
| Calendar | Scheduled Hearings & Trials Search | Use as a check, then confirm any appearance directly. |
The Jasper court home page identifies the county’s circuit structure and public contact routes.
The official landing page helps distinguish court operations from the statewide docket search itself.
What a Court Docket Shows
A Jasper County court docket is a running list. It collects the filings, settings, and judicial actions in one case. It is not automatically the full file. Missouri's recordkeeping rules support standard pieces: a case number, court and division, filing date, case style, status, calendar event, order, and disposition. Exactly what the public sees varies by case category and access setting.
The Missouri File Viewer help page draws one distinction worth knowing. A docket entry may be visible. A linked document can still be restricted or sit only at a courthouse terminal. ECASE marks an electronic case record. A non-hyperlinked entry can mean no attached document or no remote access, not that the event never happened.
| Case header | Case number, court or division, category, filing date, case style, and current status identify the record. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Party roles and publicly displayed attorney information connect an entry to the correct case. |
| Docket entries | Filings, hearings, orders, judgments, and other actions appear in time order when public. |
| Settings | Date, time, event type, division, judge, and location may appear for a scheduled hearing. |
| Documents | A hyperlink or ECASE marker can signal a document route, subject to security limits. |
| Disposition | A judgment, dismissal, plea, sentence, or other final action is distinct from a later payment or appeal event. |
Jasper County Docket Codes
Missouri case categories offer useful clues when reading a Jasper County docket, but they should never be used to guess a case from a charge description. The statewide system codes include CR for criminal, TR for traffic, IN for infraction, CV for civil, JU for juvenile, PR for probate, MU for municipal ordinance, and TC for treatment court. Historical or converted codes also show up. Follow the number the court or notice supplies.
- Case number
- The court-assigned identifier, generally built from year, location, category, and sequence components.
- Docket entry
- One recorded filing, event, order, setting, or other action in the case timeline.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event. It may change, so it is not a guarantee of the final hearing date.
- Bind-over
- The movement of a felony matter from preliminary Associate Circuit activity to Circuit-level proceedings.
A category like CR or TR is a routing clue and nothing more. It does not override the division, caption, or instructions printed on the summons.
Which Courts Keep Dockets
Jasper County forms a single-county circuit: the Missouri Circuit Court, 29th Judicial Circuit. Circuit Divisions I through III handle higher-dollar civil causes. They also take the felony work assigned at the Circuit level. Associate Divisions IV through VI take lower-dollar civil matters, small claims, traffic, misdemeanors, preliminary felony proceedings, and other functions. Family, juvenile, probate, and treatment work also sits within the county court structure.
City municipal divisions are separate access points for local ordinance and municipal traffic cases. Some use Case.net. Their details can differ from a Circuit Clerk record. A city clerk, hearing place, payment rules, and schedule may all be different. Treat any routing table as a helper only. It is no substitute for the division stated on a notice.
| Court or division | Docket covers | Where to search |
|---|---|---|
| 29th Judicial Circuit | Circuit and Associate civil, criminal, traffic, family, juvenile, probate, and related county cases | Case.net, Circuit Clerk, public terminal, or a records request |
| City municipal division | City ordinance and municipal traffic matters | Case.net when public, then the applicable city municipal clerk |
| Western District of Missouri | Federal cases, including bankruptcy proceedings | PACER and the federal court, not the Jasper state docket |
The court’s divisions page explains the separate Circuit and Associate responsibilities.
Division assignments help a searcher ask the right office for a docket or file.
The official judges page lists court divisions. One Division I listing conflicts with the 2025 annual report, so verify it before trusting the current roster as final.
That published conflict is reason enough to rely on an active notice and clerk confirmation for a pending setting.
Jasper County Docket Office Locations
The Circuit Clerk works from two locations, not two county courts. The official court locations page lists two buildings. They are the Jasper County Courts Building in Joplin and the Jasper County Courthouse in Carthage. A summons or division instruction should control which building to use. Civil filings may go to either Circuit Clerk location. Juvenile work routes to Joplin. Probate belongs to the Carthage courthouse division.

(417) 358-0441
Joplin Circuit Clerk Office
Jasper County Courts Building
633 South Pearl Avenue, Joplin, MO 64801
(417) 625-4310
The court's official contact page separates records, criminal and traffic, civil, probate, family, accounting, and appeal routes.
Function-specific contacts lower the odds of sending a records request to the county-government County Clerk, a separate office.
The official locations page distinguishes the Joplin Courts Building from the Carthage courthouse.
The court site lists 633 South Pearl for Joplin, while a county-government page cites 601 South Pearl. Confirm the destination with the court before you travel.
Finding Court Dates and Settings
Three places can hold a Jasper County court date. Use Case.net's scheduled-hearing search, the case docket itself, or the court's posted Today's Dockets schedule. None of these is an order. The court warns that the posted schedule is not inclusive. An appearance close at hand needs a better source. A summons, a direct confirmation from the clerk, or counsel's notice is safer. That holds double after a reset or a continuance.
A setting usually lists a date, time, case number, division, judge, event type, and location. The event might be an arraignment. It could also be pretrial activity, a hearing, the trial, or something else entirely. Never assume the first time on the calendar is a trial time. The Jasper County court calendar walks through those fields and the best ways to confirm them.
Jasper County Today’s Dockets
Today's Dockets is the official posted schedule for Jasper County court activity. It helps you see what is happening today. But the court says plainly that the listing is not inclusive. An entry may be missing for several reasons. Format, timing, a restricted matter, or some other limit can cause a gap. A gap is not proof that a setting was cancelled.
If your case is absent from the posted schedule, check Case.net, read the case notice, and call the right Joplin or Carthage office. The Criminal FAQ gives the same advice for mandatory appearances. When you cannot find the time, call the court. One caution applies here. An attorney eFiling account is not the public's fallback. It is a filing tool for attorneys with separate access permissions.
Verify a pending setting: The docket and posted schedule are useful checks, but the summons, a direct clerk contact, or an attorney’s notice controls when sources disagree.
Public Access to Dockets
Missouri court records are open to the public during regular business hours unless a statute, rule, or court order makes them confidential. The principle has limits at the document level. A case header can be public while one of its filings is not, and sealed orders, confidential mental-health records, and juvenile matters sit behind that same wall. When the remote display is unclear, ask the clerk. The clerk can tell you the current access path for the record you need.
Key access rules:
Missouri Court Operating Rule 2 public-review draft describes the general open-record presumption and should be verified against the final rule.
RSMo 610.023 sets Sunshine Law response timing, but does not override a court record made confidential by another law or rule.
RSMo 610.140 makes covered records confidential after an expungement order, subject to the statute’s limits.
RSMo 211.321 restricts juvenile records and proceedings except as the statute permits.
Jasper Probate also treats mental-health and alcohol or drug materials as confidential. A search that returns no results does not get you around those boundaries.
Jasper County Docket File Access
Case.net is only one layer of the Jasper County docket system. A public terminal at the courthouse, the clerk counter, phone or email routing, and a targeted records request all still matter. The General Records Request Form lets you describe up to three case numbers or styles. You can also pick a division, a copy format, certification, and categories like Circuit Civil, Circuit Criminal, Traffic Dispositions, Associate Civil, Associate Criminal, or Family Court Records. Use only the identifiers a lawful request requires.
The form's office checklist explains why older records need more than an online search. It points to automated and microfilmed sources, index cards, judgment cards, and books from before 1975. Electronic copies carry no fee on the general form. Yet the official HTML fee page lists a different amount for physical copies. Confirm the current charge with the records office before you send payment.
The Clerk and Docket Records
Kimberly Clinton, the Jasper County Circuit Clerk, holds the county's court records for the unified Circuit, Associate Circuit, Family, Juvenile, Probate, Criminal, Civil, and Traffic functions. Her offices maintain the county court dockets. A city municipal clerk keeps a city docket where that municipality runs its own division. Do not confuse either with the Jasper County County Clerk, a county-government official who is not the court docket custodian.
For a records question, try Case.net first when the record is automated and public. For an older file, a copy, a certification, or an access problem, use the records email, a clerk counter, the phone, or the official request form. Clerks can hand you records and explain process. They cannot give legal advice. The Jasper County court records page covers request channels and copy details more fully.
Jasper County Court Docket Workload
The court's 2025 annual report puts scale on the Jasper County docket system. It names no single case. It counted 15,717 filings and 14,887 dispositions across court operations. Those totals explain the traffic behind a search portal, a clerk counter, calendars, jury activity, interpreter assignments, and the specialized divisions. They say nothing about people, outcomes, or whether any particular docket is complete.
The annual-reports archive publishes the court's dated workload material. For current division assignments, rely on the court's live sources. A workload report will not tell you who sits where today.
Court Dockets by City in Jasper County
By 2020 Census ranking, Jasper County's five largest incorporated places are Joplin, Carthage, Webb City, Carl Junction, and Oronogo. Each runs a municipal route for local ordinance or municipal traffic work. A city page still cannot replace a county Circuit case search. The right clerk depends on the caption, the division, and the court named on your notice. Population rank sets the order of these pages, not court jurisdiction.
Joplin Court Docket
51,762 residents in the 2020 Census ranking; municipal work is distinct from county Circuit cases.
Carthage Court Docket
15,522 residents; Municipal Division and county Circuit Clerk roles use different locations.
Webb City Court Docket
13,031 residents; city court directs case information to Case.net and the municipal clerk.
Carl Junction Court Docket
8,143 residents; eligible municipal matters can have a Case.net entry delay.
Oronogo Court Docket
2,558 residents; the municipal division uses Case.net and a city clerk route.
The Census incorporated-place table provides the consistent 2020 population ranking.
The ranking only orders local pages. A bigger city does not gain broader court jurisdiction by having more people. Jasper's municipal-court directory lists city clerk routes and courthouse routing for municipalities without their own division.
Municipal payment or schedule pages can help with a local matter. They do not create a separate full public docket database.
Jasper County and Federal Dockets
Dockets in Jasper County belong to Missouri state courts. Federal matters are different. They sit with the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. You search them through PACER and CM/ECF. The Joplin Southwestern Division is an unstaffed spot used mainly for bankruptcy hearings. Most ordinary district hearings happen in Springfield instead. Having a federal courtroom nearby does not move a federal case onto Case.net. A Jasper County court docket will never contain one. The Western District’s Joplin information spells out the limited role that location plays.
State and federal records live in separate systems. The Jasper County Circuit Clerk holds the state side, while the federal clerk keeps its own filings, even when the same event touches both courts. PACER’s official pricing page lays out what federal access costs and when the quarterly waiver applies.
Think of PACER as a federal research route only. It does not replace Missouri Case.net or the Jasper County Circuit Clerk for state cases. Jasper County’s official history notes the county was established in 1841 and that the present Carthage courthouse went up in 1894-95.
A note on history: the dates are background, so get current addresses and docket routes from the court’s active pages.
Map and Directions to the Jasper County Courthouse
29th Judicial Circuit docket records for Jasper County are split between the historic Jasper County Courthouse at 302 South Main Street in Carthage, the county seat, and the Jasper County Courts Building at 633 South Pearl Avenue in Joplin. A summons or notice names the correct building; probate work is tied to the Carthage Courthouse (Room 206), while criminal, civil, traffic, and much of the day-to-day caseload can be filed or heard at either office.
